24-7 Prayer
Keep The Fire Burning: Leviticus 6:13
A 24/7 Prayer Warrior is committed to praying during an hour prayer slot each week. As we join together into a mighty army of Prayer Warriors, a fire of unceasing prayer is offered up before the Lord—one that is fueled by intimacy with God, intercession for each other, and worship of the King. God has lit the fire upon the altar of our hearts. We have the great privilege and responsibility to keep the fire burning through prayer.

24/7 My Town: Praying for the place where you live
My town… It’s where I get my groceries. It’s where my kids go to school. It’s where my family grows, learns, shares and rests. It’s where I play. It’s the place where I live. It’s my home. It’s My Town.
You pray for your children, your family, your friends, your job and your co-workers, but when was the last time you prayed for your town? On May 15, 2011, Walnut Hill introduced “24/7 My Town” – a challenge to pray for the place where you live.
“Join the Echo” with “My Town”
Join the Echo was not merely an 8-week sermon series (at the beginning of 2011) – it is a season focused on living the Good News of Jesus. Why should we, as Christ-followers, miss the opportunity to continue this season of prayer and evangelism through praying for our towns?
Our growing Walnut Hill community has the ability to touch more than 20 towns through members of our congregation. By engaging in fervent prayer for each of our towns, we can make the echo reverberate louder and see a greater impact in our communities.
Here’s How it Works
Each town has been assigned to one of the seven days of the week. See the chart below with the towns listed on their assigned days.
| Sunday | Monday | Tuesday | Wednesday | Thursday | Friday | Saturday |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
|
The Valley Wilton Weston |
Bethel Redding |
Newtown Sandy Hook Other |
Greater Waterbury Ridgefield |
Southbury Woodbury New Milford Sherman |
Danbury New Fairfield |
Brookfield Bridgewater Brewster NY State |
When you take a “24/7 - My Town” prayer slot, you make a commitment to pray for 30 minutes -- at any time you choose -- once a week, on the day assigned to your town. It’s that simple. There is no limit on the number of people that can pray during a given time slot. As a church, our goal is to have at least 24 cumulative hours of prayer for each town on each day of the week. That equates to a minimum 48 prayer slots per town, per day.
Why Should I Pray for My Town?
To AJ Picard, Pastor of Prayer, the answer is clear:
“Acts 1:8 reveals our mandate as the people of God. We’ve been filled with the Holy Spirit, and placed in our towns - our 'Jerusalem' - to be His witnesses. My Town prayer slots call each of us to take stewardship of this calling through prayer, asking the Lord to pour out His mercy and grace over the places where we live.
Imagine what God could do if we commit to lighting a continuous fire of prayer before the Lord each week for our towns. Let's unite together and pray that the Lord would break up the fallow soil of our towns and pour out His Spirit over the places where we live."
Why pray for the place you live? The better question is, why wouldn’t you?
