A Lifestyle of Community Discipleship

The early Church modeled what it means to live in community; to love and care for one another.

At Walnut Hill, Community Groups are the primary way we live this out.

We gather in Community Groups with our friends and neighbors to live life together, experience the Gospel, wrestle with the truths of the Bible, love one another, serve our city or town, and participate in the mission God has for Walnut Hill.

So whether you are new to the church – and looking for a way to connect – or you’ve been around for years and are just waiting for the perfect opportunity to really get plugged in, there is a Community Group waiting for you.

Although they operate in the same way – providing a place for members to come together to eat, hang out, pray, study the Word, and serve within their town - no two Community Groups are the same. Each reflects the people who are in them, and the town in which they live.

Community Groups are an environment for building relationships with one another, which strongly emphasizes challenging one another to grow in their understanding of God’s Word.

Most Groups are kid-friendly, making them great for families at all stages of life. Most follow a study plan that builds on the Sunday sermon series, but slowing down a bit to talk about how to apply scripture to everyday life.

Community Groups are much more than a Bible study however; they are community, a place where we can laugh, cry, work and play together for the glory of Jesus. This means you could expect to have BBQs, work in an elderly neighbor’s yard, go bowling, work in children’s ministry, stock a local food pantry, visit people in the hospital, throw birthday parties, etc.
