Igniting a passion for Jesus in New England

AJ Picard

AJ’s personal life mission is to connect to God’s heart, reveal His beauty through art, and inspire others to develop their creative potential. This uniquely positions him to lead a movement in the arts at Walnut Hill through his role of Pastor of the Arts. AJ has had the joy of serving on many leadership teams over the years, including one term on the Elder Board before coming on staff in 2010 to lead the prayer ministry for more than seven years. His passion to know God and make Him known is what inspires AJ to awaken artists inside and outside the church doors to carry the hope of Jesus into our communities as cultural influencers.

AJ received his bachelor’s degree in art from Western Connecticut State University in 1997. After graduating, he began a career in fine art and portrait painting that has spanned 20 years. Because his role on staff is 25 hours a week, he continues to paint portraits and landscapes, teach art workshops throughout the world, create instructional art books and videos, and exhibit his work widely in the U.S and abroad. AJ lives in Southbury with his wife, Mirjam, and their two sons, Lucas and Joshua.
