What a Year!! Celebrating One Year for Greater Waterbury.
On Sunday, November 28, 2010, we made Walnut Hill history – the first service of the Greater Waterbury congregation was held at Chase Collegiate School. Today, the Greater Waterbury congregation is a place where people come not only to hear the Word and continue their journey with Christ, but also to engage in the friendships and significant community of a smaller church, all while enjoying the perks and resources of being part of a larger church family.
To mark this anniversary, we want to celebrate all that God has done in Greater Waterbury. Here are a few examples of God at work within the church walls and in the community.
At Chase School:
- We began our Sunday morning adult Bible study, “Road Work” and held our first baptisms this past summer – 5 in all, including 3 adults and 2 children.
- We held three community barbeques, two “Salt and Pepper” dinners and have 5 Community Groups – all to solidify our community and encourage growth in Christ together.
- We have expanded our team of leaders to include Al Pirozzoli, Pastor of Care for Greater Waterbury and Prayer Servant leader Katherine Hollywood.
- As we watered the field, God provided the harvest – resulting in the growth of our congregation to about 160 people and 29 Yellow Flowers (representing lives surrendered to Christ).
Reaching beyond the walls of Chase:
- We held Camp Wanna-Hugga-Squirrel, where, with the help of 70 volunteers, we ministered to 180 kids, resulting in 29 Yellow Flowers.
- We have formed a relationship with Acts 4 Ministry – to reach out to those in need in the Greater Waterbury area.
And that’s just the beginning...
Imagine what God will do as we continue to surrender our lives to Him – we will continue to be His hands and feet with even greater benefits to our community.
“It has been exciting to witness all that God has done in and through the Greater Waterbury community. Let’s take the time out to share our stories and celebrate, all while praying for God to continue to work in and through this community,” said Craig Mowrey, Campus Pastor.
