Special Events
Throughout the year, we have several special events that are intended to provide engaging opportunities to be spiritually fed, learn from each other, celebrate holidays and have a great time together.
They include:
-
Special One-day Conferences and Events
In the past three years, we’ve enjoyed visits from comedienne Anita Renfroe, author and Women of Faith speaker Sheila Walsh, and singer and authors Kathy Troccoli & Ellie Lofaro. Each of them played to a packed house and women left uplifted, filled and laughed-out!
-
Women’s Retreats
Throughout the year, our women’s ministry provides opportunities for large and small groups of women to get away – for a weekend or a day – to recharge their batteries, go deeper into spending time with God and just be together to grow.
-
Church in Action Luncheons
Each year, we take week-long segments to focus on our constant effort to be a “Church in Action.” During these weeks, we have visiting missionaries who share the story of what God is doing in the areas where they serve.
One of our activities each time is to have a women’s luncheon, to hear specifically about how God is using women around the world.
-
Women’s Advent Event
In December 2011, we held our very first Women's Advent event. More than 80 women traded their shopping bags and holiday stress for teacups and relaxation at the Advent Tea. There, they shared tea (or coffee) and heard a message of hope from Ruth Calver, Pastor of Women. We are looking forward to continuing this tradition and celebrating the Christmas season with one another for years to come.

Women of Faith
Walnut Hill frequently makes a block of discount tickets available for this national conference, featuring Sheila Walsh, Marilyn Meberg, Luci Swindoll and Patsy Clairmont, which usually makes a stop in Hartford each fall.
