What is Alpha?
Whether you would consider yourself an atheist, agnostic, Christian or something else, Alpha is the place for you! Through sharing a meal, listening to a talk and conversation in a group, each participant gets to explore the basics of the Christian faith in an open, friendly and honest environment.
Alpha is a dynamic format that began in England some 20-plus years ago as a relational group experience. Since its humble beginnings, Alpha is now in 169 countries around the world and continues to grow. It is a great place to ask questions about faith in a supportive yet casual setting.
Alpha has 10 weekly sessions that cover questions like:
- Who is Jesus?
- Why did He have to die?
- Why and how do I pray?
- How does God guide us?
- Does God heal today?
Each week, there is food, a short talk and significant time for discussion. The discussion groups remain the same each week and offer a great opportunity to connect with others and really grow together throughout the weeks.
In addition to the 10 sessions, we offer an Alpha Day on one Saturday. This day provides an opportunity to explore the exciting prospect of a personal encounter with God’s Holy Spirit, and includes time for prayer and worship. It’s a significant part of the course and a day not to miss!
How Do I Sign Up?
At Walnut Hill, we offer Alpha twice a year – once in the spring and once in the fall. Each weekly session is free. For the Alpha Day, we request for donation to cover the costs. Click below to register for the next session.
